TERMS AND CONDITIONS

LIABILITY
Care will be taken to assure the safety of all works of art. However, neither the Darien Arts Center nor the committee will be responsible for any loss or damage.

$2000 IN CASH PRIZES
Adult and Student prizes awarded in all categories

JUDGE
Arianne Faber Kolb, Ph.D., is an art historian and curator of old master and contemporary art. She was the Executive Co-Director of the Carriage Barn Arts Center in New Canaan, a curator of paintings and drawings at the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles, a visiting professor of art history at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and a researcher in the Paintings Department at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

BEST IN SHOW
Winner will be given a solo show at Town Hall in the spring of 2018.

SALES
All sales will be handled by the Darien Art Show committee and a 25% commission will be taken on the sale of each piece to benefit the Darien Arts Center.

ELIGIBILITY
Artists who reside, work, are presently enrolled in a class at the Darien Arts Center, or who have made a minimum contribution of $35 to the DAC are eligible to enter.

ENTRY FEES
Adults: $20 per piece (maximum two pieces).
Students, grades K-12: $10 per piece (maximum two pieces; no sculpture K-8 please).
Adult artists submitting two works of art must designate at least one of them for sale.
All art work entries must be recent, original, framed and affixed with wire ready for hanging.

MEDIA
Oil - Acrylic - Watercolor - Drawing/Pastel - Mixed Media/Printmaking - Sculpture - Color Photography - Black & White Photography

SIZE LIMITATIONS
Artwork should not exceed dimension of 40" x 40" including frame. Sculpture may not exceed 50 lbs. and a pedestal must be provided by the artist. The Art Show committee reserves the right to reject any work they determine to be unsuitable for the Darien Art Show.

PICK-UP
Please make arrangements if you are unable to pick up your own work. A $5 per piece/per day fee will be charged for work not removed by June 11 at 4pm.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • 58th Darien Art Show & Sale Registration will begin online Monday, April 17. Adult and children entries are welcome. Multiple entries are permitted. Artwork drop off is Tuesday, May 30, 2017, 2-8pm.
