For intermediate students who have had at least three years or more experience in ballet technique or equivalent. It is suggested to take this class two times per week. MODERN/JAZZ 4 Grades 6 & up. Wednesday, 6-7pm. This class is a fast paced combination of modern and jazz techniques. Must have appropriate experience. ADV. BROADWAY DANCE Grades 6 & up. Friday, 5-6pm. This class emphasizes theatre dance encompassing many dance techniques and styles for the purpose of a lively performance. POP - PILATES Grades 7 & up. Monday, 7-8pm or Wednesday, 4-5pm. A total body mat-based equipment free workout inspired by classical Pilates. It is a fusion of ab-chiseling and total body defining moves to upbeat music. TEEN CONTEMPORARY Grades 7 & up. Tuesday, 5:15-6:15pm. Contemporary dance draws on modern dance technique and an array of philosophies of movement based on the study of the human body and body/mind inter-relationships. TEEN LYRICAL Grades 7 & up. Monday, 4:45-5:45pm or Wednesday, 5-6pm. Lyrical dance is a modern dance form which fuses modern dance, jazz and ballet. HIGH SCHOOL HIP HOP Grades 9-12. Thursday, 4-5pm. Street dance style. A combination of popping and isolation grooves. NEW TEEN TAP Grades 6-12. Monday, 3-3:45pm. This is a continuation of tap technique at a more advanced level, exploring classic tap and theatre tap combinations. More advanced harmonic progressions, forms, and elements of melody and counterpoint will be explored. Students will write short pieces that explore specific aspects of the compositional process such as imitation and different types of chromaticism. Students will also work on their own self-directed pieces, to be performed at the DAC Holiday Recital in December. A variety of different media and techniques will be explored using the elements of art. Students will create using pastels, watercolor, ink and more. New projects are planned each session to accomodate new and returning students. Grades 9 and up | Wednesday | 6:45-8:15pm Sept. 25 – Dec. 18 | 12 classes $380 plus $35 Registration Fee No classes on Nov. 27 This class is geared towards the advanced art student who would like to develop drawing and painting skills in more depth. Students will learn the historical importance of some of the great artists such as Monet, Picasso and Van Gogh, and learn techniques these artists used to create their masterpieces. High school students working on their college portfolios are encouraged to join. |
