Students will be learning music in the jazz, pop and rock styles and will develop skills in improvising and creating and performing their own original music. This ensemble will have the opportunity to perform at the last session for their parents. Students will gain the skills necessary to audition for any jazz band opportunities that may arise in the coming school year. This class will continue in the spring with an opportunity to play in the DAC Spring Recitals. Dates TBD.

NEW! GROUP PIANO FOR YOUNG BEGINNERS
TONY DITARANTO
Grades K-2 | Friday | 4pm-4:45PM (*Parents should plan to be there for the last 10 minutes of the class.)
Jan. 10-Mar. 20 | 8 classes
$225 plus a materials fee $20 and a $35 annual registration
No class January 17, February 14 or February 21
Students will be exposed to a musical “playground” where they will explore, listen, look, and learn. Children will be fully engaged with visual, auditory, and kinesthetic (feel/touch) activities. Activities will include the use of our electric keyboards. Students will receive two books that are theirs to keep. Students will be prepared to go on to private lessons.
All students need a keyboard or piano to practice on. Keyboards are fine for the first year of piano, but it is strongly advised to upgrade to a digital or acoustic piano sometime in the second year of piano. By this time, students need the weight of piano keys to allow their fingers to strengthen properly and the ability to use expressive dynamics (the ability to play crescendos and diminuendos).
