The Darien Arts Center in collaboration with JIB Productions, is delighted to announce a special performance of hilarious and heartwarming play readings celebrating Valentine’s Day and presented by Fairfield County’s beloved local theater group, Play With Your Food. The hour-long performance takes place on February 12th at 7pm in the DAC Weatherstone Studio.

Love Notes promises to ‘spread a little love and a lot of laughter’ while providing a fun ‘date’ night out. The delightful mix of pieces by both emerging and established playwrights, will be performed by a cast of professional actors that includes Katie Sparer, Kim Maresca, Susan Vanech, John O’ Hern and Damian Long.

The short plays celebrate relationships, even if they get a little sticky: Best Lei’d Plans by Kelly Younger, who takes two mothers-in-law, mixes in a few piña coladas and one ‘safe’ word for a hilarious take on what it takes to make a marriage work; Torpid By Craig Pospisil, a short, funny play with surprising insights on parenthood (Is there such a thing as too much love?); Modern Love Stories: Stories of Love, Loss and Redemption from the in(famous) New York Times; A Traditional Wedding by the award-winning and irrepressible Mo Gaffney, where a longtime couple reminisces about their not-so-traditional wedding; Signs of Life By Fred Stroppel, the irrepressible master of macabre one-act comedies, where a woman decides to introduce her new boyfriend to her dead husband and the sparks fly; and The Diaries of Adam and Eve by Mark Twain, where Adam and Eve, reading aloud from their own diaries to give the ‘real’ story of what was going on in the garden of Eden.

All play readings are directed by Carole Schweid, Artistic Director of JIB Productions. House and cash bar open at 6:30pm with cabaret-style seating at spaced tables. Masks and proof of vaccination will be required at the performance.
