The Darien Arts Center is excited to announce its Visual Arts Studio Open House on Sunday, June 7th from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the DAC Visual Arts Studio. This free, family-friendly event will showcase the incredible creativity and talent of our young artists while inviting the broader community to experience what our visual arts program is all about.
The afternoon will feature a student art exhibit displaying work created by DAC visual arts students, along with interactive hands-on workshops for visitors of all ages. Young artists will be invited to explore four creative stations. At the Beading Workshop, they can craft unique bracelets and necklaces with an array of sparkling and colorful beads. The Baseball Cap Design Station features rich fabric paints and playful patches to make each one unique. The Frame Decorating Station offers acrylic paint pens, found objects, and gems to choose from. At the heart of the studio, a Grand Collaborative Canvas will come to life throughout the event, where every child is invited to leave their mark by adding brushstrokes, shapes, and splashes of color to a painting that celebrates community, creativity, and collective imagination.
The event will also feature face painting and an ice cream truck, making for a joyful afternoon of art, creativity, and community connection.
"We believe it's empowering and inspiring for young artists to see their work displayed," said Lisa Koorbusch, Visual Arts Director at the Darien Arts Center. "This open house is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the talent in our community, invite families to create together, and remind everyone that we offer amazing programming for both youth and adults."
Students are invited to submit one piece of artwork they are proud of for display. Artwork can be brought to class or dropped off at the DAC office Monday–Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. All pieces will be matted and prepared for professional display by the DAC team.
