The Darien Arts Center is excited to share a creative opportunity for local students through Swim Across America – Fairfield County’s Make Waves T-Shirt Design Contest, celebrating the organization’s 20th Anniversary of making waves to fight cancer.
Open to middle and high school students across Fairfield County, the contest invites young artists to design the official commemorative t-shirt for Swim Across America – Fairfield County’s 20th anniversary. Students may submit original artwork in any medium—including drawing, painting, photography, or digital design—highlighting themes such as community, teamwork, hope, swimming, and the mission of raising funds for cancer research. AI-generated designs are not permitted.
Swim Across America – Fairfield County has long been supported by local students and families who participate as swimmers, volunteers, and supporters. This contest offers another meaningful way for students to get involved—without requiring classroom time or teacher participation—while using their creativity to support a powerful cause. Proceeds from Swim Across America events benefit cancer research and local beneficiaries, including the Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy (ACGT), based in Stamford, Connecticut.
The submission deadline is April 15, 2026, and entries must be submitted through an online Google Form. A panel of Swim Across America volunteers, local artists, and community partners will select the winning design. The grand prize winner will receive a $250 gift card, a Swim Across America swag bag, special recognition at the June 20, 2026 open water swim, and have their artwork featured on the official anniversary t-shirt and promotional materials. A second-place runner-up prize will also be awarded. Parent or guardian permission is required for all entries.
The Darien Arts Center is proud to help spread the word about this opportunity that celebrates student creativity, community involvement, and giving back.
