The Board of Directors of the Darien Arts Center is pleased to announce the selection of the Arts Center’s new Executive Director, George Colabella. George will assume the overall execution of the mission of the DAC as well as strategic, developmental and operational responsibilities for the town’s only arts non-profit.

 

“We are very excited for George to join the DAC family. George has embraced our organization and is hard at work collaborating with our creative directors, staff and board members in bringing our mission to life,” commented Carolyn Cavolo, DAC Board President.  

 

George added, “I am honored and humbled to be part of such a dynamic and creative organization. As the Darien Arts Center touches the hearts of so many, I am proud to be a part of this family.”

 

Colabella has more than 30 years’ experience and expertise as a nonprofit executive and fund development specialist. He has held the position of Executive Director for a regional service organization and has also held the position of Development Director for a prominent support center. As principal of Colabella & Associates he has conducted strategic planning for numerous organizations in the New York Tri-State area.

 

George has particular expertise in the areas of board recruitment and training, staff development, organizational management, financial planning, and fund development. He has demonstrated success in the areas of major gifts, capital campaigns, annual giving, and donor cultivation. Working both as a consultant and in-house, he has provided the means by which organizations can advance their mission through expansion and enrichment of services and programs.

 

George has sat on several boards in addition to providing extensive pro bono services. He is the author of numerous professional articles and has taught non-profit management on the graduate level. He holds a B.A. in Psychology from Canisius College, an M.A. in Psychology from Hunter of CUNY, as well as post-graduate training in management. He is a nationally certified Nonprofit Executive and the author of two published books, fiction and nonfiction.
