From Past & Present DAC Board of Directors

With her boundless energy, knowledge and passion, Carole Claps was an integral part of the success of the Darien Arts Center for over thirty years. She served on the Board for many years and as VP, Carole contributed her PR expertise to support all the arts programs at the DAC.
She was also the driving force behind the Darien Players. Carole directed full scale musicals at the DAC including Company, Mack & Mable, Man of La Mancha, Most Happy Fella and Follies. Her marketing skills were exhibited in Follies when she added DAC volunteers and donors as walk-ons to draw in the community to the delight of the participants and the audience. When she directed “1776” which was performed in the Town Hall auditorium, she successfully attracted school children to attend by enlisting the school superintendent and teachers in full costume as walk-ons.
Carole’s contributions in creating, marketing and presenting many successful special events are too numerous to list. She presented many cabarets in the DAC Weatherstone featuring local talent. Carole also introduced Joel Martin and his acclaimed Jazzical to Darien and he continues to be a part of DAC as a composer for East Coast Contemporary Ballet. Between 2013-2018 Carole also directed DAC’s Darien’s Got Talent competition four times. It was a major town event and fundraiser for the Darien Arts Center.
Carole connected every generation through her contagious enthusiasm and larger-than-life personality. She shared her incredible talents and did it with her whole heart.
 We love you Carole!
