Darien Arts Center Photo & Video Release Policy
The Darien Arts Center (DAC) is committed to protecting the privacy and safety of our students, families, and community while celebrating and sharing the creativity that happens within our programs.
Purpose
This policy explains how DAC may capture, use, and share photos and videos of students, families, and community members, and outlines the rights of families regarding their participation.
Photography & Filming by DAC
- DAC staff and approved photographers/videographers may take photos and videos of classes, performances, and events for educational, archival, and promotional purposes.
- These images may appear in DAC print materials, on our website, social media, newsletters, press releases, or other communications.
- DAC will make every effort to use media respectfully and appropriately, highlighting our programs and community in a positive way.
- If you do not wish your child to be filmed or photographed, please indicate when you fill out the Photo & Video Release Form
Family Consent
- Families will be asked to complete a Photo/Video Release Form at the start of each program year, indicating whether or not they give DAC permission to photograph or film their child.
- DAC Photo & Video Release Form
- Families who decline consent will have their wishes respected, and DAC staff will make reasonable efforts to exclude those students from photographs and recordings.
Photography & Filming by Parents/Guardians
- To respect the privacy of all families, parents and guardians are not permitted to film or photograph inside classrooms or rehearsals.
- At performances or public events, families may take photos or videos of their own child for personal use, but may not post or share images of other children without prior consent from those families.
Social Media & Sharing
- Photos or videos taken by DAC may be shared publicly through DAC’s official channels.
- Parents/guardians are asked not to share photos or videos of children other than their own on personal social media.
Opt-Out Option
- Families who do not grant photo/video permission should notify DAC in writing via the annual release form.
- DAC will keep this information on file and take reasonable steps to ensure those students are not included in promotional media.
Commitment to Safety
The safety and well-being of our students is our highest priority. This policy is in place to balance the joy of celebrating student achievements with the need to respect family preferences and privacy.
